Lorde Talks About Her Friendship With Taylor Swift

Lorde the singer from New Zealand praised the 25-year-old beauty for being so friendly and supportive to her when she started her music career.

In an interview with fellow Swift best friend Lena Dunham for Dazed magazine, she admitted she under no circumstances believed she could have girlfriends.

But Lorde says that Swift brought her into "this amazing world of supportive female friendship." She continued, "For me, someone starts talking about boys and I'm like, 'I just don't know what to say.' I'm useless in that capacity and that was why I thought, 'Well, I can't have girlfriends, [because] I don't know how to talk about boys.' But Taylor just glosses over the fact that I'm terrible at that, and she's just like, 'It's okay, I'll love you for your other qualities.'

Whether spending time with ladies or guys, the singer maintains that she is true to her feminist roots. But she admitted she’s nonetheless finding out.

“I’m not just going to do a 180 on a girl due to the fact she hasn’t discovered about feminism,” she stated. “I bear in mind not getting 100 % confident what feminism or intersectional feminism is — I’m nonetheless not 100 percent positive! …For a extended time, I wasn’t conscious of how significant it was to be a feminist for all women.”

Speaking in Dazed magazine, she explained: "I feel that Taylor (Swift) has really taken control and said, 'I'm going to get us all together in the same place, I'm gonna make it very clear that friendship is powerful and women are magic and if anybody thinks this is a witches' coven they might be right.' She's just made it her job in a very cool way."

Lorde also talked about being in the music industry as a young female and how she never let pressure from others affect her, because her sense of self "felt too permanent for anyone to f--- with." Lorde said, "You know, whenever there was a makeover suggestion or like, 'Do you wanna try this push-up bra?' I think I freaked enough people out — or intimidated enough people — that it didn't happen."
