Lionel Messi Saved The Life Of An Argentine Man Kidnapped In Nigeria By Unknown Gunmen


Santiago Lopez Menendez, an Argentine man who was kidnapped last week in Niger State of Nigeria, claimed that Lionel Messi’s name saved him from the Kidnappers that abducted him.


On 24th June,the 28-year-old agricultural engineer,was kidnapped by a group of armed men as he was heading out to work in a field, he plants soya and corn crops close to Kontagora.
His story has been all over Argentine newspapers over the past couple of days after he revealed that Messi was the reason his captors went easy on him, according to a report on 101 Great Goals.
“The Nigerian kidnappers thought he was American, which he believes was the reason that they were particularly violent towards him,” according to the report.

“Unable to communicate with his kidnappers who spoke no English, Menendez resorted to simply shouting “Messi! Messi! Messi!” until they understood that he was Argentine.

“The scientist said his treatment improved massively from that point on… Because who doesn’t appreciate the genius of Leo Messi?

“Tell them to thank Messi, his name is what saved my brother’s life“, said Santiago’s brother Jorge to Clarin. ‘Naming him is what saved me’.

 He was held captive for 3 days, and will soon be back home in Argentina, but Presently, he is under the care of the Argentine Consulate in Nigeria and has said many times that he owes his life to the Barcelona man Lionel Messi
