According to the British government minister,England would be ready to host the FIFA world cup in 2022 if taken away from Qatar.
The sudden resignation of the outgoing FIFA president on tuesday has resulted to series of calls for the 2022 bidding process to re-run, if there is proof that there was some kind of illegality involved.
Although Qatar has denied any corruption in the bid Whittingdale speaking in the house of commons on thursday said "If FIFA came forward and asked us to consider hosting it, we have the facilities in this country and ofcourse we did mount a very impressive, if unsuccessful, bid to host the 2018 World Cup."
"In terms of the decision to hold the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, that is obviously something which we are watching, but at the moment that decision stands.
If it were decided to change that, I think as the chairman of the English FA Greg Dyke observed, if Russia hosts the world cup in 2018 it does seem very unlikely that another European country would host it in 2022."
Under the rules and regulation of FIFA the World Cup cannot be held in the same continent two times in a row.
The Prime Minister David Cameron has backed Whittingdale's comments up but said the most important thing to him is "cleaning up" FIFA.
Some of the other countries Interested in the 2022 Bid are Austrialia, Japan, South Korea, United States of America, etc.
The bidding process of 2018 World Cup won by Russia is also under Investigation by the Swiss Authorities and America's FBI.
However the Russian Sports Minister has insisted that there are "no risk" of his country being stripped of its rights.
